Google pixel 6 pixel 6 pro launch date in India Confirmed for 2022?

India has always been a low-priority market when it comes to flagship Google Pixel smartphones. With many of the series mobile phones skipping the Indian market altogether. But the latest Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, which are loaded with high-end specifications at just the right price, were expected to change this marketing strategy. Unfortunately, Indian consumers have to wait a little longer to get their hands on these flagship devices.

In this article, you’ll find the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro price in India, the expected launch date, specs on Indian models, as well as a detailed dive into its features, uncovering its hype, and finding whether it’s really worth the wait.

Before going further, we must know that apart from the Pixel 4a launch (priced at  31,999) during the Flipkart Big Billion Day in October 2020, all the later Pixel series smartphones like the Pixel 4, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, and Pixel 5a were never launched in India (neither at retail nor via online e-commerce websites). There was great anticipation amongst Indian consumers for the launch of the Pixel 5 or Pixel 5a during Diwali in November 2021, but the launch date never materialised.

Both Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro were unveiled on October 19 with a initial global release date of October 25, 2021 for 8 regions of United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, Australia, France, and Taiwan.

Indian tech sites however were optimistic that India will definitively make the cut in the later list of launch regions. The main reason for that was the perfectly priced Google Pixel 6 with some heavy loaded specs.

The price of the Google Pixel 6 during the launch event starts at $599 for the 128GB of storage, while the 256GB variant starts at $699. Google’s Tensor Chip, a clean Android 12 experience, and an amazing camera setup (50 MP + 12 MP) and quality, priced at approx.  44,990, would’ve garnered a massive buzz amongst the higher-salaried group in India.

Though Google stated “Global Supply-Demand Issue” as the reason for excluding many markets for its Pixel 6 series smartphones, it is well understood that India, where there are only 10% of consumers interested in above-$300 flagship smartphones, is one of the main reasons for the exclusion.

But whereas the less fascination of some of the earlier Pixel models in India was due to its lower price-to-spec argument, especially in comparison to specs-heavy Chinese smartphones, which are riding the wave of popularity, Google Pixel 6 specifications are actually in demand amongst the salaried group (in need of a clean Android experience), photography enthusiasts (in need of some serious camera hardware), and the growing mobile e-sports community in India.

Hence, the Google Pixel 6 128 GB variant, priced at  44,990 in India, would’ve been a heavy contender for purchase in the flagship 5G smartphone range. Following is the full specification table for the Google Pixel 6, and you can be the judge for yourself as to whether Google really missed the mark in not including India as a potential market for the Pixel 6 series smartphones.
